| Healthy Families Travis County (HFTC) is a voluntary, home-visiting program for overburdened parents and their families. The primary objectives of the program are to promote healthy parent-child relationships, support appropriate child development, prevent child abuse and neglect, and enhance family functioning. The research-based, Healthy Families America model was chosen for its documented success in those areas. Serving families in the Austin area for thirteen years, HFTC is one of only two programs in Texas to be awarded national credentials for Best Practices by Healthy Families America and Prevent Child Abuse America (links below). Currently, HFTC serves families who receive prenatal care in local CommUnity Care clinics and reside in the zip code areas: 78702, 78704, 78723, 78724, 78741, 78752, 78753, 78758 and 78617. The program also reaches out to some area high schools. |
